Title: Justified Rage
Fandom: The Fantastic Journey
Summary: Although Varian’s rage is justified, Fred finds it scarily out of character.

It was scary seeing Varian, his peaceful, non-violent friend, so out of control, but the rage filling him was understandable. He’d been so happy a few short hours ago, looking forward to the life he’d share with his new wife, only to have the rug pulled out from under him with the revelation that he was to be sacrificed to a volcano!

Seeing his wife sacrifice her own life in his place… Fred couldn’t imagine the pain Varian was feeling, and if tearing the temple apart helped him, well, good. But they needed to get out, before it collapsed completely.

Definitely not a good idea to hang around, however angry he feels.

Fred literally had to drag him out, Varian was determined to destroy the place, and at the time I'm not sure he would have cared if the the place had collapsed on him. Rage and grief had him so twisted up inside.

It was the first episode I watched on my first rewatch since '77, and it was devastating to see it again. I can't begin to imagine the depths of grief and guilt such a loss would cause, and yet I keep writing about it =(
